CONSEQUENCES FOR BREAKING SCHOOL RULES

There will be a file box in the office with a card for each child.  Any time a staff member observes an infraction, they are to ask the child his/her name and the teacher will remind the child of the proper behavior.  The staff member will then find the appropriate card in the file, list the offense, date, and initial the card.  The discipline procedure is as follows:

1st Offense

Student will be called to the office and given a warning and/or recess detention(s) will result.

2nd Offense

Student will be called to the office; the parent/guardian will be notified in writing, recess detention(s) will result.

3rd Offense & After

Recess or after school detention(s) will result; parent will be notified.  If an after school detention results, student and parents will be given adequate notice of detention date.

Any student who receives two (2) detentions after school or two (2) instances of recess detentions during the course of a marking period will not be allowed to participate in the special programs and events, which are scheduled during this time.  At the end of the first and second marking period the slate is wiped clean, and the child begins anew.  However, beginning with the third marking period, the slate begins anew but will not be cleared at the end of the marking period.  Offenses will continue and accumulate.  All offenses after the third offense will result in a recess or after school detentions.

The principal reserves the right to take a disciplinary action, such as a missed recess, after school detention, loss of privilege, in-school suspension, or out-of-school suspension regardless of the number of the offense and depending on its seriousness. If a student’s misbehavior persists, a parent conference will be scheduled.

Bullying will not be tolerated at Judson School.  Bullying is defined as any persistent overt or covert act by a student or group of students directed against another student with the intent to ridicule, humiliate, or intimidate the student with or without physical contact.  The first reported, verified instance will result in a warning and counseling.  A repeated instance will be considered subject for suspension of the offender by the building administrator.

Our students are a reflection of Judson School.  Therefore, it is important that students realize that they must show respect to their peers and adults at all times in order to earn the right to attend school functions.
